Multidisciplinary Assessments is a group of health care workers who are members of different disciplines (professions e.g. Physician, Chiropractor, Physiotherapist, etc.), each providing specific services to the patient. The purpose is to gather formal data from a variety of sources to rule out the possibility of the presence of an unresolved disease process or need for further medical assessment or intervention. The team identifies barriers for return to work, and develop goals and action plans to overcome the barriers. Once barriers for the claimant’s return to work are identified in the initial assessments, the team develops a plan and specific programs (such as a Work Hardening Program, Functional Restoration Program, Chronic Pain program etc) to overcome these barriers. Recommendations regarding appropriate modified duties with options are provided, taking into account the physical demands of the employment as these relate to the physical capabilities of the individual.
ICE's are conducted to determine the cause and extent of an individual’s injury. They do so by providing objective-third-party-assessment of the examinee’s chiropractic status. This means that the process does not involve pre-existing doctor-patient relationships. The process is not influenced by the source that refers for the examination. The evaluation will consist of a physical exam by an unbiased, certified chiropractor. The Independent Chiropractic Examination will provide a detailed report about the patient’s:
· Diagnosis
· Prognosis
· Timeline for recovery
· Treatment recommendations
· Expected recovery outcomes
